This is a “deep dive” into working with individuals impacted by the experience of termination. The topic of abortion is an area of work that triggers strong emotions, thoughts and reactions, both with the people who bring this topic to us, but also us as counsellors.
I am delighted to work in partnership with Jane Brown and support the offering of this workshop online via Zoom. Jane was a founding member of “The Acorn Centre” which is a registered charity in Nuneaton. The Acorn Centre provides specialist pregnancy counselling for women and men throughout Warwickshire. They are one of the only charities in the local area that offers support to people who are facing difficult pregnancy related issues, such as fertility issues, miscarriage and still birth, and post natal depression among others
This workshop is an opportunity for you to hear from Jane who has over twenty years of working in this specialist field, who will share her experience, learning and examples from her practice to illustrate theory, practice and the need to think about the practicalities of working in this specialist area. The workshop is designed to allow those attending to reflect on their own beliefs and experiences as individuals and practitioners, using a range of questions and ideas to consider how diversity in culture, faith, beliefs and backgrounds can magnify the tensions between society and families, alongside navigating the medical model.
